Espenak said
Binoculars and a backyard can really enhance the experience and be helpful in viewing clear skies. American astrophysicist Fred Espenak said it will reveal features such as lunar maria, the dark plains formed by ancient volcanic lava flows and rays coming out from lunar craters.
Farmer Almanac said
Old Farmer Almanac said the full moon in August is traditionally known as the sturgeon moon. He added that’s because of the ampleness of that fish in the Great Lakes 100 years ago in the month of August.
